CHAPTER 10

Near the beginning of this chapter Henry and the director were talking about Bernard. Henry was stating that he did a good job and the director agreed but stated that he could make people go astray from society and he called it corruption. Then when Bernard showed up he announced to everyone around him in front of Bernard that he was an enemy to society due to his opposing beliefs on soma, sports, sex-life, refusal of fords teachings, and behaving out of office hours. The director asked him if he had any reason that the judgement he gave was wrong and Bernard had answered yes. The director asked him to show his reason and Bernard brought Linda out. The director was horrified. Linda told him that he had made her have a baby to which everyone in the room responded with an "appalling hush". People were made to feel very uncomfortable. When John came in and called him father people began to laugh from the obscene occurrence. The director looked around at the people and felt terrified and humiliated from what was happening.
